The term “healthtech” was coined by Dr David Blumenthal, MD, MPH, FACEP, FASCP, FAHPE, who is also the founder and CEO of the American College of Physicians (ACP). He defines it as “the intersection between medicine and technology.”

In addition to being a medical doctor, he is also a professor at Harvard Medical School and a practising physician. His definition of healthtech includes any product or service that helps people manage their health, whether through prevention, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, or education.
